Just Some Thoughts
Over the last few months I have come to the conclusion that there is an erosion of, or at least the attempted erosion of civil liberties throughout the western world. The primary focus seems to be to attempt to narrow free speech rights in the guise of promoting “tolerance” and opposing “hate speech.” However, there are other areas of concern including the right to association, attempts to narrow the 2nd amendment and more than a few cases of denying religious freedom to those viewed as not worthy. So I opened this blog for the purpose of highlighting the attacks on civil libereties throughout the world in general, but particularly in the U.S.
Some blogs that regularly post on civil liberties include - The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education’s (FIRE) blog the Torch, which is undoubtedly the leader in high lighting the deprivation of civil liberties on college campuses and should be read regularly. Other blogs that often devote significant time to civil rights issues are the Lamplighter, SCSU Scholars, and Instapundit. To a lessor degree, Newscoma and Power Line also often post on civil liberties. All are worth checking often. In the interest of full disclosure Lamplighter is my blog.
